Playing Cards

It's a good bet that somewhere between the Casino and the long trip to the old folks home, most of life's cards have been stacked against you. That is unless you've been practicing a particular brand of 'O.C.D.'*

And while it may seem contrary, these cards are actually often dealt for your benefit. Yes...even when you don't/can't recognize it immediately, and also find, you're usually the last to know.

And just as there are many cards in life, there're also many types of so called Gentlemen.

Consider this card: perhaps someone you know suffers from goofy, aloof, awkward and halting silence, just at the moment they wish they could speak out loud. Contrast that with this Gentleman, Ezra Allen Miner circa 1847-1913 AKA The Grey Fox, The Gentleman Robber or the Gentleman Bandit. He's supposed as the originator of the phrase "Hands Up!"

Or how about the Nice* guy didn't get the job, raise, girl and finished last card.

As opposed to this gentleman, Stede Bonnet born circa 1688 died 1718 @ age 30. His moniker of Gentleman Pirate came mainly from the fact of him being a wealthy land owner prior to becoming a pirate. As if riches alone, could confer gentlemanly essence. Hmm..see Mr. Manners *

Finally, I think it's fair to say, Many cards offer only sheer perplexity. And we'll contrast that with the 'Gentleman's Agreements' AKA the simple, civil way to conduct ourselves with people, business and things.
